Malcolm Smith

Founder & CEO | National Dump Trucking Association

Malcolm Smith is a former educator turned logistics leader who now serves as the founder and CEO of the National Dump Trucking Association, the first and only national organization dedicated to supporting professionals in the dump truck sector of the trucking industry.

After leaving his career as a health and PE teacher, Malcolm entered the world of logistics with an over-the-road truck and learned firsthand how unforgiving the industry can be. That early failure became a foundation for growth, leading him into the dump truck business, where he discovered both opportunity and a lack of structured guidance. Determined to change that, Malcolm built an association that helps members across the country start, scale, and sustain profitable dump truck operations.

Through the National Dump Trucking Association, Malcolm offers education, mentorship, business resources, and access to bid opportunities. He has helped countless owner-operators navigate real challenges like building business credit, controlling fuel costs, avoiding predatory contracts, and improving cash flow through factoring partnerships.

Malcolm is passionate about helping others avoid the mistakes he made. He advocates for financial literacy, data-driven operations, and responsible scaling within the trucking industry. He is also a vocal supporter of bringing Gen Z into logistics to address the industry’s labor shortage and prepare for the future of freight.

When he is not leading weekly Haulers Huddle strategy calls or negotiating lower costs through collective buying power, you will find Malcolm creating educational content across social platforms, empowering the next generation of dump truck entrepreneurs to succeed where others might fail.
